If you are looking for the best cheap beginner guitar for kids – and by that we mean really cheap – we would like to kindly draw your attention towards the SX RST 3/4 CAR package, the absolute top deal for the money.

Note that while this guitar hardly offers an amazing sound, it offers a sound that is adequate, decent, worthy of beginners, and simply NOT garbage. Also note that for around $100 you'll be getting the whole deal – guitar, amp, gig bag, strap, picks, cable, instructional DVD, everything!

Body & Neck

The instrument utilizes a solid 3/4-size Stratocaster-like double cutaway alder body combined with a maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard with 21 jumbo frets and standard white dot markers. It's about three inches shorter and two inches narrower than a full size guitar, making it great not just for kids, but for traveling as well.

The build quality is on high level, the neck is fairly easy to play and quite sturdy thanks to maple construction, the instrument is light, and fret job the manufacturer did is good enough to reduce fret noise to a pretty low level. The guitar is available in sunburst, black, red, 3-tones, white, and purple finish. Note that left- handed models are also available.

Hardware

In the electronic department, we are looking at a standard Strat configuration of three single-coil pickups. Additionally, we are dealing with regular Volume knob plus two Tone knobs for extra adjustments. Of course, a five-way switch for pickup control has also been included in the mix.

Additional notable features include a tremolo bar, a vintage fulcrum bridge with six adjustable saddles, a truss rod, a pack of six die-cast tuners, and a white pick-guard.

As for that extra gear, the biggest part of the bundle is the 10-watt GA-1065, which is a fine newbie amp with all the basic tonal controls. The rest of the package includes a classic black gig bag, a set of six picks, a strap, a 10-foot cable, and an instructional video DVD.

Sound

As always, the sound is crafted as a mixture of tonewood and electronics. In this case, we are dealing with alder, a tonewood associated with classic Fender Stratocaster guitars. In terms of sonic attack, it brings strong middles and a beefy low end to the table, rounding it up with just enough brightness to create a strong audio image.

When combined with single-coils, alder becomes more expressive and resonant, providing a distinctive sound associated with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour and Jeff Beck. In this case, of course, you'll be getting the budget version of that sound.

Value/Conclusion

For the listed price, this is one heck of a deal! $100 is great for just the guitar, but the fact that you also get the amp is amazing. When you add all the other accessories, the deal goes from amazing to super awesome!

Overall, when all is said and combined, this is a deal you can't regret as long as you are after a good electric guitar for beginners, especially for kids. Do we recommend it? Yes, absolutely!
