Jasmine S34C – A Lot Of Guitar For Not A Lot Of Money

4.1 out of 5 stars

Finding a decent cheap acoustic guitar is hard as it is, but once you start looking for a good jumbo in this price range, it all gets considerably more difficult. Jasmine S34C is among the few cheap jumbos out there which are worth getting. S34C is probably the best super cheap jumbo you can get at the moment. On top of all that, you also get a cutaway. It just doesn't get much better than this.

Body And Neck

As we've already mentioned, this is a jumbo sized guitar with a cutaway. That's a lot of guitar for not a lot of money. Naturally, tradeoffs had to be made somewhere. One of the most obvious ones is the choice of tonewood. We are looking at a laminate spruce top combined with Sapele back and sides. Overall, it's not a bad combination if everything is fit correctly, which Jasmine certainly did. The cutaway is a lifesaver for those who want to access the full range of tones on their guitar. While it's a bare bones no thrill design, Jasmine S34C definitely surprises with its build quality.

Hardware

When you're discussing guitars in this price range, the hardware is going to be one of the categories where you shouldn't expect anything impressive. Jasmine ships these with a rosewood bridge fitted with a synthetic compensated saddle. On the other end of the business, at the headstock, you will find a standard set of die-cast tuners. These work relatively well, although you might need to adjust the tuning from time to time. The absolute best way to get the most out of this guitar, and any other in this price range, is to take it to a shop for a proper setup. This alone will solve 90% of issues you might have with cheap acoustic guitars.

Sound

In terms of sound, S34C's jumbo size is definitely showing. You get a roaring projection with an abundance of volume to work with. The low-end response is massive, as it is expected from a jumbo, however the trebles are still relatively well defined. The guitar is lacking some mid range presence, however that is definitely not a deal breaker. Those who need a jumbo acoustic on a budget will find a great solution in Jasmine S34C. It is definitely worth the money you're asked to pay for it, if not more.

Conclusion

Dealing with super cheap acoustic guitars is often hit or miss. Jasmine is among the rare brands which still offers a level of certainty in this price range. S34C is not only one of the few jumbos you can pick up for next to nothing, but it actually brings some range to the table. Whether you are a beginner who likes a more powerful tone, or someone looking for a decent jumbo for practice purposes, Jasmine S34C is about as good as it gets in this price range.
