The CP-100 is Fender’s take on an affordable Parlor guitar, a petite work of art with a number of vintage-y selections. As the instrument’s name implies, this small bodied beauty is a best fit for casual playing in a laid back environment – whether it’s your home or an otherwise small, closed setting.
In spite of that, it is still capable of producing reasonable volumes. It’s not on a dreadnought’s level, but it certainly has its flavor and charm. If you want an excellent sounding, yet compact guitar at an affordable price, there’s hardly a better selection.
Body & Neck
The instrument’s body is made of a laminated spruce top, facilitating superb projection. The back and sides are made of laminated mahogany with a smooth satin finish adding to its enticing allure. The body is held together thanks to its quartersawn scalloped X-bracing system.
The mahogany neck has a naturally slim profile featuring a dual action truss rod. The neck accommodates the rosewood fingerboard, which comes rigged with 20 frets and smaller dot inlays and a 1.69 inches wide synthetic bone nut. The git’s construction comes on a total scale of 24.75 inches.
The guitar’s chrome hardware is comprised of components which make staying in tune a non-existent issue, which comes further affirmed by its excellent intonation.
Making sure of this is a rosewood bridge sitting atop a synthetic bone compensated bone saddle, as well as six open-gear tuners rigged on the headstock. Both hardware ends do justice to the Fender Dura Tone 80/20 steel strings.
This gitbox has a surprisingly full sound if you consider its entirely laminated construction. The instrument’s sound output does strive towards more midrange-y tones, however said tones are still very full in that range.
You might argue that a solid top offers better projection, but opinions vary by person and in the end it comes down to preference.I personally found no issues with the git’s tonal spectrum and quality. Its lightweight parlor design allows for playability on a whole different level.
This beauty can become an extension of your body, it’s a delight in your hands and continuous play sessions nullify any discomfort.
The CP-100 is a remarkable piece of work coming at a very affordable price. It can be a worthy addition to your collection, or a magnificent startup instrument regardless of your musical back
